South-East Asia Pacific FES networkDear Colleagues and Postgraduate Students interested in FES in Malaysia During August 2007, I was delighted to visit Malaysia to deliver a Seminar at PPUM on the topic of FES Technology and Application: Fitness and Health Benefits of FES-evoked Physical Activity. My visit was co-sponsored by the University of Malaya and the International Functional Electrical Stimulation Society. I have attached my Title slides in Adobe Acrobat format for your interest, and the Acrobat document of all my slides. I wanted to follow up on that visit to your fine University and the discussions that we held about the idea of establishing a South-East Asia Pacific FES network (SEA-PAC FESnet). The concept of founding such a network of colleagues, postgraduate students and other interested individuals seemed to be well-received during my visit. So how shall we do this? I believe that the best way is for people who are interested to first become members of the International FES Society and then after they have done so, email their details to me. (Annual membership is not expensive - $US50 for General Members and $US30 for Student Members). The Registration site is located at this link http://www.ifess.org/Membership.htm, and I will collate and distribute the email addresses of interested parties amongst the establishing network members (permission to release your details will first be sought). Once we have a few founding members of SEA-PAC FESnet, then we can begin to assign duties such as newsletters, Executive members, etc, for any nascent network that is establishing itself.
